ZAINO Surface Preparation Proper surface preparation is the key to ultimate results. People often complain of the “multiple steps” and the “complicated process” that’s involved in creating the show car finish. What people fail to realize, is that the critical process of surface preparation is the most significant factor leading to the ultimate show car finish. The results attained are directly proportionate to the effort expended during surface preparation; it doesn’t matter if you’re using Zaino, or some paste wax sold at the dollar store. Very much like painting a wall in your home, surface preparation is the key. Satisfactory results certainly can be obtained by merely slapping a coat of fresh paint over a wall. But we’d certainly have a better looking, longer lasting, and more durable paint job if we wipe down the dust and spider webs, clean off Ruff’s dirty paw prints, spackle the nail holes, prime over Junior’s Crayola and tomato sauce hand prints, and just generally clean and prepare the surface. Of course, there are varying degrees of attention to detail. We have a friend that paints homes professionally. In addition to the normal clean up and prep work, his procedure for evaluating a wall’s readiness for final paint is a bit more detailed. He uses a droplight at night, in complete darkness, to cast shadows on the walls to find imperfections that are not visible during the day. Any imperfections are noted, repaired, and the process repeated to insure the wall is free from any blemishes. Of course, our friend paint’s very high end homes, so his attention to detail, going above and beyond what’s normal, is somewhat expected. The point is that surface preparation is the key. It’s up to you, not us, but you, on how much you decide to prepare your surface. Some may chose to skip the entire surface preparation process altogether and receive results they are very happy with. Other more meticulous customers will engage in a lengthy process of cleaning, repairing, and then re-evaluating the surface prior to moving on to APPLICATION for phenomenal results. We find that most customers choose a higher middle ground. Zaino Surface Preparation Products Z-18 ClayBar – Whether old or new, claying a vehicles surface is very important to its overall health and appearance. Particularly important on brand new cars, claying removes surface and embedded contaminants that are harmful to the life of the finish.
